Later by Stephen King is a horror/crime genre book about a boy named Jamie Conklin, who can essentially see the ghosts of dead people. The story is set in the late 2000s, after the 2008 recession, in New York City.
Some of Jamie’s earlier experiences with this “power” of his have left him permanently traumatized, including a man who was killed in a car wreck. His mother makes sure to keep it a secret between them, though that eventually falls through, where Jamie gets involved with a crime case involving the antagonist of the story, who seems to follow/chase him around for the rest of the story.
Later is one of my preferred books by Stephen King, since it was one of the first I’ve read by him. It’s a very immersive story with both funny and tragic scenes throughout. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is interested in crime, mystery, or horror, as King has a good combination of the three within this book.

Atalanta by Jennifer Saint is a mythological fiction novel about one of the very few female heroes in Greek mythology. The novel consists of several plot points all revolving around the important events in her life. This tale is told through the thoughts and feelings of the fastest woman in Greek mythology.
The story begins with her origin and how she was left to die as a newborn. However, she survives and is taken in by the goddess of the hunt, Artemis. As she is raised with the goddess and her nymphs, she learns many lessons and becomes as strong and fast as the goddess herself. This leads her to a quest which will not leave her the same and alters her life completely.
Atalanta is a wonderful story that focuses on feminism and the story of a woman who is often forgotten in myth. This novel allows her story to be retold further and keeps her story alive. I would highly recommend this book for fans of Greek mythology and mythological fiction.
