“All That You Love Will be Carried Away” by Stephen King is yet another one of his short stories from his most recent collection, called “Everything’s Eventual.” This story is of a man who struggles to find a purpose in his life, selling frozen meals door to door across the country. He struggles with suicidal thoughts and actions, but is reluctant to..do such a thing as die, afraid he’ll find a purpose to live. He goes around the country selling from door to door, but along the way in rest stops, he discovers little messages that people write on the walls of the places, and has written them all down, seemingly collecting them. His own reasoning for it is unknown exactly; it’s just a small hobby to him. As he stops at a hotel one evening, he debates his personal struggles once again, along with trying to turn his life around by writing a book about his collection of phrases and sayings from around the country.
I personally enjoyed reading this, as it brought in many emotions from his character and learning of his backstory. King does a great job of describing this character's thoughts, the place around him, and just every other little detail. I found myself wanting to keep reading about this story, and how exactly everything goes for him. I would personally recommend this story, and rate it around a four out of five stars if I had to.

Galatea by Madeline Miller is an intriguing retelling of the myth of Galatea and Pygmalion. In ancient Greece, Pygmalion was known as an incredible sculptor who put his heart and soul into his work. However, he was very lonely and desired a companion. Out of his loneliness, he crafted a statue of a beautiful woman. He would give the statue an array of jewelry and gifts and one day he pleaded to the goddess, Aphrodite, to give him a companion and a lover. The goddess responded by giving the statue a beating heart and warm skin. The woman, who was a gift from Aphrodite, was incredibly beautiful and she went by the name Galatea. However, Pygmalion became cruel and jealous of her which made her miserable. She eventually grows tired and lures him out to the ocean. When she gets him into deeper water, she embraces him and wishes to be stone again.
I love this short short by Madeline Miller because it is such an interesting take from the original myth. The original was a heartfelt romance but Miller’s version is a bit more dark and tragic. It covers the topic of love and neglect and the pain of feeling like you’re only wanted for your appearance. I loved the way Miller perceives the character and how blunt and straight to the point she is.
